Some NKD Agility classes, including Applying Professional Scrum, use Minecraft Education for their team exercises. The trainer hosts the world and you join it over the internet. This page covers everything you need to do before the first session. Your IT team may also need the Minecraft Education IT requirements.

What you need

  • A supported device. One of:

    • Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit only)
    • macOS 14 or later
    • a Chromebook on ChromeOS 114 or later that supports Google Play
    • an iPad on iPadOS 15 or later
    • an Android tablet on Android 8 or later

    Linux, ChromeOS Flex and emulators do not work.

  • At least 2 GB of memory and 2 GB of free storage. 8 GB of memory gives a smoother experience.

  • A mouse is strongly recommended on a laptop. A touchpad makes building slow.

  • A wired connection if you can. Wi-Fi works, but a cable is more stable during long sessions.

  • The account we send you. Minecraft Education only lets players in the same organisation play together, so you must sign in with the account and licence we provide, not your work account.

Install Minecraft Education

  1. Download Minecraft Education for your device from the Minecraft Education download page.
  2. On Windows, use either the Microsoft Store version or the desktop installer, not both. If the Store install fails, install any pending Store updates first.
  3. If your device is managed by your employer and you cannot install apps, ask your IT team, or use a personal device.

Sign in

  1. Open Minecraft Education and sign in with the account we sent you.
  2. If you are asked to change your password, do so.
  3. If the account is not recognised, wait up to an hour and try again. New accounts can take that long to become active.
  4. Optionally, change your character’s outfit and name.

Check your version

Everyone in a world must run the same version of Minecraft Education. The version number is in the lower right of the welcome screen. Update to the latest version before the class.

Join the class world

  1. Select Play, then Join World.
  2. Enter the join code the trainer shares. It is four pictures; select them in order.
  3. If you cannot connect, try twice more, then tell the trainer.

Before your first session

We will run a short practice join before the class. Please:

  • install and sign in at least a day before;
  • join the practice world when we share its code;
  • tell us straight away if anything fails, so there is time to fix it with your IT team.

If joining fails with “Unable to connect to world” or “Unable to access the service”, a firewall, content filter, VPN or antivirus on your network is usually blocking the connection. Send your IT team the Minecraft Education IT requirements.
